AICTE-DRDO Launch M Tech Defense Technology

Everybody in their childhood, would have one day wished to join the army. Some do, while some are unable due to the lack of their physical abilities. But if you are the few who wishes to use their knowledge and serve the army, then this article is for you.

What Is It?

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) have launched a two year, Full time Master Of Technology (M Tech) course in Defense Technology.

The students will be able to learn on Defense Studies, manufacturing of weapons and combat vehicles and the technology. The students enrolled in this course will be trained in various areas of defense services.

Where can I study?

All engineering colleges recognized by the AICTE, including the various IITs and NITs can run this course and they will be supported either by online or offline mode by the Institute of Defense Scientists and Technologists(IDST).

As a start, the course will be available only in institutes which are in the vicinity of DRDO, Public Sector Units or Private Defense Industries to effectively conduct the course.

What are the options available ?

Currently the AICTE and the DRDO have planned to offer the course with 6 Specializations namely: Combat Vehicle Engineering, Aerospace Technology, Naval Technology, Communication Systems and Sensors, Directed Energy Technology and High Energy Materials Technology.

What should I do to study this?

Since it is a Master’s Course, one must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (BE) or Technology (B Tech). Students who have graduated in about 48 various principles of Engineering are eligible to pursue the course as their Master’s.
